Position Summary
The Teaching Pastor would have a deep desire to study the Word of God and to teach it to the congregation. He would be an expositor of the Bible, excellent at sound preaching, rightly dividing the Word. He would take seriously the mandate to “teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine” (Titus 2:1) and desires that the congregation would grow and mature and “no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming” (Ephesians 4:14).

Position Summary
The Teaching Pastor would have a deep desire to study the Word of God and to teach it to the congregation. Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach the Word of God using expository preaching methods for 35+ Sundays a year
- Develop the preaching calendar and selecting what book and/or series our church would go through
- Attends monthly elder meetings and is a contributing member of the elder council
Serves as a contributing member of the Staff Leadership Team - Along with the other pastors:
- Provide short-term counseling, prayer, pre-marital counseling, conflict resolution, and biblical direction to those in need of shepherding within the congregation
- Provide general Pastoral care through visiting congregants who may be sick or in the hospital, as well as officiating funerals
- Administer the sacraments of communion and baptism
- Officiate weddings
- Available to step in and teach for other ministries as needed and time permits
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Spiritually mature as evidenced by observable walk with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Commitment to the Bible as God’s Word and the authority for Christian living above the values of tradition and culture.
- Commitment to the intentional cultivation of the inner life through worship, study of the Word, and prayer.
- Dedicated to ministering to and shepherding people in a warm manner that leads to a closer understanding of the sufficiency of Jesus Christ.
- Exhibits the character qualities of a pastor and elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4)
- Possesses the gift of pastor-teacher (Ephesians 5:1-4)
Personal Development
Continuing as a life-long learner through reading, study, and attending conferences, classes and/or seminars as necessary

- Reports to: The Elder Council
- Supervised by: The Executive Director

Education–Experience–Skill Requirements
- Minimum MDiv
- Requires demonstration of sound preaching with at least 15 years of faithful ministry experience
- Requires exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and time management
- Collaborates well with administrative staff
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills
