About: Lynwood Worship Center has a heart for reaching the lost in Lynwood, and the surrounding neighborhoods, and providing a welcoming place for them to grow in their relationship with Christ.

Serve Opportunity: Serve a meal after you worship and fellowship with our ministry partners in Lynwood that live and reach out to the urban poor, the homeless, prostitutes and youth. You will attend their church service and then work alongside the Lynwood team to serve the meal after service and get to know their neighbors.

About: Faith & Finances is an integrated financial education curriculum designed specifically for low to moderate income people and those who would like to learn basic budgeting skills. We learn practical money management skills such as setting savings goals, creating spending plans, managing debt and loans, while unpacking how our money is part of God's work in the world. Each participant is paired with an Ally that will walk alongside them, providing encouragement, advocacy, and supportive friendship.

Serve Opportunity: Meal Team-prepare and deliver a meal for the students. You can also become an ally (mentor) to class participants.

About: Partnering with the activities director at Harbor Terrace to create fun and engaging classes and activities for the senior citizens living at the independent living retirement community.

Serve Opportunity: Play bingo, card, and board games, share musical talents, make jewelry, teach a foreign language, teach an art class, bring your pet to visit, or simply sit and chat with the residents residing at Harbor Terrace Retirement Community in downtown San Pedro.

Serve Opportunity: Take the gospel message to convalescent homes' residents that they may have an opportunity to accept the saving grace of Jesus. Bring love, joy, and encouragement, cheer-up the lonely, hold a hand, pray with someone, share your testimony, and sing hymns, praise songs, sunday school songs, and fun songs with the group. Consider coming as a guest performer to share instrumental or singing talents.

About: Johnston School is a public, alternative school located in San Pedro, CA. It has 128 students in grades 7-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1. Rolling Hills Covenant Church has been partnering with this school since 2010.

About: Hope is a unique training program that started on Skid Row, in downtown Los Angeles teaching valuable job skills to men and women, many of whom have been homeless, gang members and ex-offenders. ReIgnite Hope offers a free four month.

Serve Opportunity: Bring and serve lunch to the students. There is also a need for math tutors, as well as resume and interview preparation help.

About: Fellowship of Christian Athletes has a vision to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes. FCA works mainly in the local high schools through lunch meetings and local events and camps.

Serve Opportunity: Be an adult presence at FCA events. You can also pick up and drop off pizzas at local high schools.

About: Community’s Child provides a variety of assistance to the shelter residents at the Lomita transitional shelter where homeless women and children are provided a safe living environment with training and education to end poverty, abuse, addiction, and hopelessness.

Serve Opportunity: Volunteers can babysit after school, as well as help in classes (ESL, Art, Bible Studies, GED Prep, Parenting). There are also opportunities with their Healthy Bag Ministry, needing people to create Healthy Bags (grocery bags for families in need), as well as drivers to deliver the bags to schools on Fridays.

About: Harbor Hills is a low income housing community down the street from Rolling Hills Covenant Church. We have the unique opportunity of being so close to this community. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus for this community. The ways to serve will vary depending on the need.

Serve Opportunity: Go with a seasoned team of servants down to the Harbor Hills Community to pass out groceries and offer an ear to listen and a voice to pray. You will fill bags of groceries prior to leaving the North Campus and then go out with seasoned servants to meet the residents. Also, please check back for other serve opportunities.

About: Beacon Light/Doors of Hope's mission is to minister Jesus Christ to the homeless in the South Bay by providing a safe and nurturing environment where they can receive food, clothing, temporary shelter, discipleship and spiritual encouragement in the present life circumstances.

Serve Opportunity: They currently have kitchen and dining room volunteer opportunities open. Time commitment is about 2 hours from 6:30 - 8:30p. You will help set the tables, get dinner plated and put on the tables, and help clean up after dinner.

Serve Opportunity: Serve alongside the staff serving snacks, doing crafts, and facilitating activities that teach the love of Jesus to young adults with special needs.

Marcia was born and raised in San Pedro, attending RHCC since 1996 and has been on staff since 2004. She cares deeply for people living in the margins of society and has a passion to see the church become the bridge that ushers in God’s reconciliation into their city, living a life on mission and incarnationally as the hands and feet of Jesus. She believes that everyone has a voice and that we can all learn from one another, no matter what or socio-economic background is.  She is an avid seaglass hunter and uses the pieces she finds to help people see how God can take anything rough around its edges and make it into His beautiful masterpiece.

Marcia studied at Biola University and has a Bacholor of Science in Organizational Leadership.  She is also certified as a Faith & Finances facilitator and US Trainer for Chalmer Center, offering financial education from a biblical perspective to people of all economic backgrounds.
